American Legion Riders Post 624 2951 FM 917 Mansfield, Texas 76063
Purpose
The purpose of this organization is to foster and to perpetuate a one hundred per cent Americanism, to preserve the memories and incidents of our association in the Great Wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses; to make right the master of might; to promote peace and good will on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness; to maintain law and order, a representative form of government, and to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Texas.
Object
To participate in community services and other ceremonies that is in keeping with the Aims and Purposes of the American Legion. To promote motorcycle safety programs and to provide a social atmosphere for American legion members who share the same interest. To use our Association to promote and support programs of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of the American Legion, community services and Veteran’s Organizations. I. NAMEA. The Post level Americanism Program existing under these bylaws shall be known as American Legion Riders Post 624, The American Legion, Mansfield, Texas. II. GENERAL MEMBERSHIPA. These are the requirements for American Legion Riders Post 624 membership. 1. Must be a current paid member of the: a. American Legion b. American Legion Auxiliary c. Sons of the American Legion 2. You must own a motorcycle of at least 350cc in size or be the legal spouse of an owner who is an ALR Association member. You must also currently hold a current valid motorcycle license and insurance. You must be able to verify, within 60 days, your eligibility or your application/renewal will be denied. 3. Membership dues and renewalsa. Initial membership dues into the American Legion Riders will be $20.00 and will remain at $20.00 for renewals. b. Renewal for the American Legion Riders will run concurrent with the annual Legion dues with expiration dates of December 31, regardless of the initial date of application. Upon renewal, every member will complete a new application. c. Rider Program dues may be increased by a majority vote of the Executive Committee at any time. B. Support Members: 1. Support memberships do not constitute actual membership in the American Legion Riders. 2. These memberships are of a nature as to provide recognition to those who show strong support to the individual American Legion Riders Post 624. 3. Support members must still meet the requirements of Section II.A. 4. The designation of Support membership shall be recorded on the ALR roster and on “soft colors” (ie: T-shirts) only. 5. Annual dues of $5.00 as above rules state II.A.3.a.,b and c C. If any member becomes unable to ride due to unfortunate circumstances the Executive Committee will decide continuing eligibility. Continued eligibility must still meet the requirements of Section II.A.1 and II.A.3.a.,b and c

Road Captain (*These offices are at the discretion of the individual chapter) IV. ELECTIONSA. Election of the American Legion Riders Post 624 will be held annually in accordance with Post elections. V. DUTIES OF ASSOCIATION CHAPTER OFFICERS
A. Director Will serve as Chief Administrative Officer of the Association and will preside over all meetings. The Director shall have general supervision over the affairs of the Association. He shall perform such other duties as directed by the general membership.
B. Assistant Director Will assume the duties of the Director in his absence. The Assistant Director will assist the Director in the performance of the duties.
C. Secretary Will keep a full and correct record of all proceedings at the meetings. The Secretary will keep membership records as may be required by the general membership. The Secretary will also give detailed minutes at each regular meeting.
D. Treasurer Will have charge of all finances of the Association. To have charge of disbursing funds as directed by the general membership. Will give detailed financial reports at each regular meeting. (Copies will be furnished to the sponsoring Post if requested.) E. Sergeant At Arms Shall preserve order at meetings and all official functions of the American Legion Riders. Shall perform such other duties as may be from time to time assigned to the Sergeant At Arms by the Director or Executive Committee. The Sergeant At Arms shall have charge of the Colors, and shall not display or permit them to be displayed without specific authority of the Director. F. Historian Shall be charged with the individual records and incidents of the American Legion Riders and American Legion Rider members shall perform such other duties as may properly pertain to the office and may be determined by the Director or Executive Committee. Historian shall keep possession of all original certificates and historical documents. G. Chaplain To give spiritual guidance and counseling to the membership. Open all meetings, rides, and other activities with a prayer. May appoint some one to fill in when unavailable. H. Run Coordinator Will be the logistics person in charge of organized runs of the Association. Shall determine dates, times, routes and meeting places for those taking part in a run activity. Shall, at the Run Coordinator’s discretion, appoint assistant road captains or take any other measures necessary to help insure the safety of the group during a run. Shall also help to maintain order during chapter meetings. VI. MEETINGS
A. Meetings will be held at a date, time and place as voted on by a majority of the members at any regular meeting. Two-thirds (2/3) of the elected officers will constitute a quorum. B. Officers who fail to attend three (3) consecutive meetings without legitimate excuse, as determined by a majority vote of the Executive Committee, will be removed from office. After roll call on the third (3rd) consecutive missed meeting a special election for this position will be held.
VII. FINANCES
A. Finances of each Association will be from Association membership dues or such other sources, as approved by the membership.
VIII. EXPULSIONA. Following due process, any member may be expelled or suspended from the Association by a majority vote of the Executive Committee for conduct inappropriate while representing the American Legion Riders Post 624. All appeals will be handled by the Executive Committee of the American Legion Rider Post 624.
IX. GOVERNING RULES
A. American Legion Riders Post 624 has elected to adopt a set of standing rules to govern its membership or, at the Associations discretion, amend these bylaws. These standing rules, or bylaw amendments, shall be no less stringent than those contained in these bylaws nor can they be in any conflict with the National Constitution and Bylaws of the American Legion, Department or that of the Sponsoring Post. The Constitution of the American Legion Riders Post 624 shall be the Constitution of the American Legion Post 624.
X. ORDER
A. All meetings will be conducted under “Roberts Rules of Order Revised Edition”.
